WHAT IS THE BIG YOUTH MUSIC EXPERIENCE?
BYME is an exciting festival of music-making opportunities over the weekend of 13 & 14 July 2019.
Fantastic workshops and performances, many open to family and friends, will take place in and around the city centre throughout the weekend.
Saturday activities include workshops for INSTRUMENTALISTS grade 5-8+ and SINGERS aged 12 upwards. These groups will come together to present a ticketed evening concert at Nottingham’s Albert Hall, culminating in a spectacular performance of ‘Light of the Seven’ from Game of Thrones. This will feature all performers plus the mighty Binns organ and Steinway grand piano!
Sunday workshops are especially designed for INSTRUMENTALISTS grades 2-4 and for families, there’s a fun vocal time to be had at THE BIG FAMILY SING. All groups will entertain family and friends with a late afternoon relaxed performance in the Albert Hall.
On both days there are FESTIVAL FRINGE EVENTS. These are open not only to participants of the BYME groups but to any youngsters and their families and friends who would just like to ‘give it a go’. Here’s a taste of what’s on offer: Samba Drumming, Pure Steel Band performance and Come & Try, Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra, Capoeira Dancing and much, much more. Performances are also open to everyone. A small charge may apply to Fringe Events.
With nationally recognised tutors and conductors for the BYME groups, and top guest ‘acts’, this is a festival to truly celebrate the musical youth of the region.
