Come & Try FREE taster sessions

We will be holding FREE Come and Try it taster sessions at each of our regularly rehearsing youth groups in September, full details below. If you’d like to sign up to take part, please fill in the online form (link below) to secure a place. If you’d like to bring a friend, feel free to pass this information on. NB Existing members do not need to sign up to these.

Nottingham Youth Band – West Bridgford & Beeston

For all young wind, brass and percussion players grade 2 – 5. These weekly groups meet during school term time with a choice of rehearsals in either West Bridgford or Beeston then come together to form one big awesome band at concerts and performances. All instruments are welcome, we are particularly interested in hearing from drummers, saxophone players and lower brass instruments!

Tuesday 14th September, 5.30pm – 7pm at Rushcliffe School (Drama Studio).

Thursday 16th September, 5pm – 6.30pm at Beeston Methodist Church in the Church Hall.

Nottingham Strictly Strings

For all young string players of grade 1 – 4 standard. This group meets approximately once every 3 weeks on Sunday afternoons during school term time and is perfect for an introduction to ensemble playing. We have spaces for all instruments (violins, violas, cellos and double basses).

Sunday 19th September, 2pm – 4pm at Middle Street Resource Centre, Beeston.

East Midlands Youth String Orchestra

This auditioned string orchestra is for players of grade 5+ standard and meets approximately once every 3 weeks in Beeston alongside the Strictly Strings. EMYSO provides the opportunity to play under distinguished conductor Richard Howarth and explores other ensemble playing such as quartets and solos. All string players welcome, we would be particularly interested in hearing from viola and double bass players. There is no audition to join the Come and Try session, informal auditions can be arranged after the taster for those interested.

Sunday 19th September, 2pm – 5pm at Middle Street Resource Centre, Beeston.
