Known for both its friendliness and quality of sound, Nottingham Chamber Singers (NCS) is the auditioned SATB group of Music for Everyone.
The choir’s repertoire is secular and sacred, classical in style and drawn from many centuries. Favourites range from Hildegard of Bingen to Brahms to The Beatles, Whitacre and McDowall. New music is added regularly to the choir’s repertoire to add interest to rehearsals and their concerts. Sometimes NCS performs a Capella, at other times accompanied by various instrumental combinations and with professional vocal soloists. Each season they perform four challenging and exciting concerts of their own, often to full venues, and their presence is welcome and appreciated at occasional MfE choral events.
There is a tea break during each rehearsal and cake often appears at birthdays. If someone is up for organising a meal out or an activity, others will come!
Music Director Angela Kay and Assistant Conductor Rachel Parkes bring vast experience and expertise to NCS in repertoire selection, programming, voice production, ensemble singing and performance.
If you like being part of a choir that sings as a team, if you’re free most term-time Wednesdays, can read music and have some sightreading ability, NCS could be just the choir for you. Take a look at their website to find out more about their taster sessions and joining process.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays in school term time, 7.30-9.45pm, St Luke’s Church, Leahurst Road, West Bridgford, NG2 6GL
We don’t want anyone to be excluded from MfE activities because of their financial circumstances and there is a subsidised scheme available for any who needs it. Please contact anne@music-for-everyone.org if this is the case.
