Singing Workshop day with Neil Ferris
Come and be part of an amazing choral experience.

Unique pairings of choral music old and new. What could be better for the choral enthusiast? A classic, paired with a newly reimagined work based on the original, scored in sensitive and innovative way. Join Music for Everyone as we welcome the excellent Neil Ferris, Chorus Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus and Artistic Director and Conductor of professional London based chamber choir Sonoro. We’ll sing choral favourites from Bach, Brahms, Franck and Elgar alongside contemporary 21st century partners. You are sure to be taken on a trip down memory lane, before being whisked into a fresh and new musical world. A must for every choral enthusiast, experienced or novice!

Guest Conductor – Neil Ferris
Neil Ferris is Chorus Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus, Artistic Director and Conductor of the professional chamber choir Sonoro, and Festival Conductor of the Leith Hill Festival. With Sonoro, Neil has conducted at the St Magnus International Festival, the Wimbledon International Music Festival and King’s Place in London, and with the BBC Symphony Chorus at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
As a guest conductor Neil has worked with some of the finest choirs in the UK, including the BBC Singers, Choir of the Age of Enlightenment, London Voices, the National Youth Choir, and the National Youth Choir of Wales. He also leads workshops for the Royal Opera House Sing at ROH programme and singing holidays for Helicon Arts and Run By Singers.
Neil has led conducting masterclasses in the UK at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal Welsh Conservatoire of Music and Drama, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, University of Birmingham, and abroad in the USA, Ireland, Denmark, China, Malaysia and Singapore.
What experience do singers need?
MfE events are open to all keen singers, you do not need to be a member to take part. (See details below if you would like to become a member). The ability to read music and some previous singing experience is needed for this course.

Registration 9.45am
Morning Rehearsals 10am – 12.30pm
Lunch (bring a packed lunch) 12.30pm
Afternoon Rehearsals 1.30 – 5.30pm (with refreshment break and informal performance at 5pm)
