3rd February @ 7:30 pm
Nottingham Festival Chorus, East of England Singers & Nottingham Concert Orchestra
Victoria Barlow, Angela Kay conductors
Carl Orff – Carmina Burana
Richard Wagner – Siegfried Idyll
Eric Whitacre – Five Hebrew Love Songs
… a concert of love, drama and passion!
The ultimate birthday present, Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll was a gift to his wife, Cosoma. This elegiac piece radiates love and tenderness.
Eric Whitacre’s wife wrote Hebrew love poems to provide the texts for these haunting songs for voices, piano and solo violin.
By contrast, Orff’s colourful and exciting mediaeval choral tapestry depicts Springtime, In the Tavern and The Court Of Love, preceded by and ending with an invocation to Fortune. But it is probably best known as the music to the Old Spice aftershave advert!
Online booking is now closed. Tickets will be available on the door at the Albert Hall from 2pm on Saturday 3 February subject to availability.
