What is the Big Youth Music Experience?
BYME brings together youth music organisations based in the East Midlands to provide exciting musical opportunities for young singers and instrumentalists aged 8 – 21. It is open to existing groups and individuals. This six-month project will culminate in a festival-style event in Nottingham over the weekend of 13 & 14 July 2019.
What happens at the Big Youth String Experience?
This unique day for violinists, violists, cellists and bassists aged 8 to 21, grouped according to ability, offers a rich experience in technique, performance and repertoire through the expertise of professional conductor Nic Fallowfield. Nic places great value on his work with young string players and has led workshops across Europe. Joining him will be the dynamic Stringcredibles – an inspirational and entertaining young quartet. There will be ensemble playing and performances, including a closing informal concert for family and friends.

The Stringcredibles: www.thestringcredibles.com
The Stringcredibles is a string quartet delivering work to support the connection between musicians and audiences, mostly in schools and community settings. As professional orchestral musicians with a bold and broad vision for music education, the Stringcredibles know that technical excellence is only part of creating a great performance. Drawing audiences into the meaning of that performance is just as important and achieving this is an elusive skill. Through the different strands of their work, they explore and develop ways in which musicians can engage more effectively with their audiences helping to make every performance meaningful and inspiring every audience member – both young and old – to come back for more.
