DESCRIPTION:Saturday 07 November\, 9.30am – 5pm at Beeston Methodist Church\, NG9 1EH \nCome to Music for Everyone’s Recorder Workshop Day \nJoin us for an inspiring day of recorder playing. \nWe are delighted to welcome recorder superstars Palisander for a fun and inspiring workshop day for players of Grade 4 standard and above. \nEnjoy making music together in a large recorder orchestra before choosing from a range of focused small-group sessions. Explore music from the Renaissance\, Baroque or Modern era in sessions tailored for beginner\, intermediate and advanced players\, or take on a Bass Recorder Booster or Playing from Memory session. \nThe day will also include a performance by Palisander\, offering participants the chance to hear the ensemble in action and be inspired by their artistry. \nWhether you’re looking to develop your technique\, discover new repertoire or simply enjoy playing with others\, there’s plenty to inspire you! \n\n \n\n\nProvisional Timetable – Saturday 7th November \n09:30 – 10:00 Registration \n10:00 – 11:30 Full recorder orchestra \n11:30 – 11:45 Break \n11:45 – 12:30 Performance by Palisander followed by Q&A session \n12:30 – 13:30 Lunch \n13:30 – 16:40 Afternoon sessions including tea break \n16:40 – 17:20 Full recorder orchestra \n17:20 – 18:00 Informal performance to family and friends \n  \nWorkshop Fees \nMfE Members: £35\, Non-Members: £40. Whether you’re in musical limbo\, missing your old band days\, wanting to meet new people\, or simply looking for a creative mental‑health boost — this day is for you. \nYou’ll enjoy a day of high‑quality rehearsals with a relaxed performance at the end of the day\, and plenty of opportunities to socialise with other musicians. It’s a chance to reconnect with your instrument\, rediscover your love of ensemble playing\, and build a new musical community. \n\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\nWind\, brass and percussion players grade 5+* aged 18–35\nThose who played at school or university and want to get back into it\nYoung professionals seeking a creative outlet\nLocal students wanting to meet other musicians and find a musical community for post-graduation\nAnyone looking to build confidence and community through music\n\n*(please contact us if you would like to attend but are unsure if this course is at your level) \n\n\nWhen & Where?\nSaturday 13th February 2027\n10am – arrival\n10:30am – 4:30pm rehearsals\, including morning\, afternoon and lunchbreak\n5pm – informal performance \nPost performance: a trip to the pub afterwards for anyone who wants to continue the fun! \nVenue: Redeemer Church\, Old Town Hall\, 29 Foster Avenue\, Beeston NG9 1AE \n\nThe event will be held in Beeston\, making it easy to travel from nearby cities such as Nottingham\, Derby or Sheffield. \nGetting there:\nBy Car: Car parks are available on Foster Avenue and Devonshire Avenue\, pay and display.\nBy Public Transport: Beeston tram stop is the closet stop to the Redeemer Church. This is a 5 minute walk away.\nBeeston is easily reachable via trains into Beeston Station\, the church is then a 16 minute walk away. \nRepertoire\nRepertoire includes: \nTo be announced! \nThe course will be conducted by Gareth Widdowson whose full profile can be found on our Who’s Who webpage. \nPricing\nThe event costs £30 for the day\, including a pizza lunch. \nThere will be a group discount of 10% at the time of booking for groups of 2 or more players booking together. \nWe don’t want anyone to be excluded from MfE activities because of their financial circumstances and there is a subsidised scheme available for any who needs it. Turn left\, towards ‘The Last Post’ pub and then right on to Foster Avenue before you reach it. Continue along Foster Avenue towards Roundhill School\, past the residential houses and the Catholic church on your left to the last building on the left before the school\, directly opposite Beeston Library. This is approximately a six-minute walk. \n \n
