SUMMARY:Vacancy: Director of Youth Strings
DESCRIPTION:Music for Everyone is the East Midlands’ largest independent music charity\, delivering a dynamic range of instrumental and vocal music-making opportunities to people of all ages and abilities across the region. \n  \nWe are seeking an inspiring and charismatic musician to direct the East Midlands Youth String Orchestra\, our flagship Grade 5+ string ensemble for young players. The successful candidate will be an inspirational violin\, viola\, cello or double bass player as well as an experienced conductor and educator\, with an ambitious desire to grow the orchestra and its repertoire. They will have a proven track record of working with people from a range of backgrounds. \n  \nThe orchestra rehearses 12-14 times per year on Sunday afternoons in Nottingham and gives regular performances throughout the Music for Everyone annual season. It also holds two all-day workshops a year on Sundays in November and February\, for which additional players join\, integrating with our Big Youth Music Experience events. \n  \nThe new director will be joining MfE’s small but passionate artistic team at an exciting time of change\, and there will be the potential to grow this role for the right candidate. This may include collaborating with the director of our training string orchestra\, Strictly Strings\, as well as developing other opportunities and projects within the organisation. \nThis is a freelance contract\, offered in the first instance for a fixed term of 12 months. \n  \nFee: £30 per hour (roughly 20 hours per school term\, plus extra fee for concerts) \nStart date: September 2022 \nHow to apply: please send an email demonstrating why you are the right person to lead and develop the orchestra\, along with a current CV to Su Evans\, General Manager: su@music-for-everyone.org \nClosing date for applications: Friday 29th April at 5pm \nShortlisted candidates will be invited to conduct a short rehearsal with the orchestra on Sunday 8th May\, followed by an interview on Monday 9th May.
