Music for Everyone Summer School 2019

Lunchtime Recital Series

The Founder Hall, Nottingham High School, Waverley Mount, Nottingham NG7 4ED

Come and enjoy lunchtime recitals performed by top professional artists in the beautiful surroundings of the Nottingham High School.

Tickets £6 each or £15 for all three lunchtime concerts. Tickets can be purchased on the door subject to availability.

 

Scaramella
Monday 12 August at 1.30pm

Pooling expertise from backgrounds in cathedral music, opera, close harmony and early music, Scaramella is a London based all male ensemble. Their members have sung with many of the finest professional choirs and consort groups in the UK and Europe and are successful soloists in their own rights.

Programme:There’s no deceit in Wine‘ – music for men’s voices from the dining and drinking clubs of Hanoverian London.

Zephyr Winds
Tuesday 13 August at 1.30pm

Formed by clarinettist Chris Swann in 1980, Zephyr is an energetic wind ensemble of renowned and experienced musicians from Britain’s leading orchestras. Their repertoire is varied and extensive, ranging from Mozart to the present day, enabling the creation of diverse, interesting and exciting programmes. Concerts are introduced from the stage with warmth, insight and humour in an atmosphere which creates maximum enjoyment for players and listeners alike.

Programme to include Arnold Three Shanties, Winter Two Miniatures, Grainger Walking Tune and an arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee.

The Miyabi Duo
Wednesday 14 August at 1.30pm

Formed in 2017, the Miyabi Duo, Saki Kato and Hugh Millington, perform a variety of repertoire for two guitars, ranging from Renaissance lute duos to contemporary pieces. They also perform a range of music from the 19th century, including pieces using both a standard guitar and a terse guitar.

Rising stars, the duo made their debut performance in2 018 at the London Guitar Festival held at Kings Place and future engagements include a recital at the Wigmore Hall.

Programme: Rossini Overture from Cinderella, Mertz Pieces for guitar and terz guitar, Poole Wild Goose (1984), Gnattali Suite Retreats (Portraits)
