As a lasting memorial to Paul Redfearn, founder conductor of the Nottingham Youth String Orchestra (now East Midlands Youth String Orchestra) , Music for Everyone launched a special fund in May of 2005. The purpose of the fund was to purchase a small number of high-quality string instruments which could be lent to members of the Youth String Orchestra who reach a point in their development as players where access to such high quality instruments would be likely to make a significant difference to their progress – perhaps even to their careers. Over the last ten years the fund has been able to purchase over £7,000 worth of instruments comprising of two violins and two violas.
