East of England Singers

The East of England Singers are the Chamber Choir of Music for Everyone. Formed in 1985, this auditioned SATB choir has a busy concert schedule, performing works across the full choral range from Hildegard of Bingen to Richard Rodney Bennett. EOES rehearse weekly and performs both a capella and with their chamber orchestra, the New Classical Players.

Recent performances have included Music for Royal Occasions (read the review) Will Todd Mass in Blue (read the review), Elgar Dream of Gerontius (read the review), Schubert Mass No 2 and Mozart Solemn Vespers. All have received critical acclaim for their dynamism and beauty of sound.

EOES have 40 members and give an average of six exciting concerts per season in addition to performances with the Nottingham Festival Chorus, of which they form part, providing the semi-chorus for works which require one.

Nottingham Festival Chorus

This is Music for Everyone’s flag-ship choir, a large-scale four-part chorus (200+ voices). Members of the Nottingham Festival Chorus come together at least three times a year for intensive rehearsals to prepare performances of challenging and often unusual works under Music for Everyone’s Artistic Director, Angela Kay. By their freshness, dynamism and high artistic standard the resulting concerts have won the chorus an enviable reputation. 

Works performed include Walton Belshazzar’s Feast,  Holst Hymn of Jesus, Tippett Child of Our Time, Mathias Jonah, Verdi Requiem, Berlioz Requiem, Orff Carmina Burana, Mozart Requiem and Beethoven Missa Solemnis.

Recent performances have included Edward Elgar The Dream of Gerontius  (read the review), Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony (read the review). Nottingham Festival Chorus also perform anually as part of Music for Everyone's promenade performance.

New Classical Players and Nottingham Concert Orchestra

The Nottingham Concert Orchestra are a semi-professional Orchestra which brings together locally-based professional players. The New Classical Players are principal players of the Nottingham Concert Orchestra.  Led by Isobel Bounford, this ensemble performs regularly in partnership with the East of England Singers.

East Midlands String Orchestra

East Midlands String Orchestra is an exciting new orchestra for the very best adult string players in the region (post grade 8 and diploma standard).

The orchestra meet two times a year to rehearse and perform under the baton of expert Richard Howarth; A distinguished violinist and a dynamic conductor with a wealth of experience leading and directing orchestras.
