East of England Singers

Are you an experienced singer wishing to sing with a high quality chamber choir? The East Of England Singers are the Chamber Choir of Music for Everyone (40 Members). They give an average of six concerts per season in addition to performances by the Nottingham Festival Chorus, of which they form part, providing the semi-chorus for works which require one. Every other year they go away on a May weekend concert tour to a beautiful area of the UK.

Formed in 1985, this auditioned SATB choir has a busy concert schedule, performing works across the full choral range from Hildegard of Bingen to Richard Rodney Bennett. Recent performances have included Bach Magnificat, Monteverdi Vespers and John Tavener The World is Burning. All have received critical acclaim for their dynamism and beauty of sound.

The choir currently rehearses on a Wednesday evening (7.30pm - 9.45pm) during term time at Nottingham Trent University, Clifton The sort of singers we are looking for:

  • are able to attend regularly and will be available to sing in all or very nearly all of our concerts
  • have a flexible voice of pleasing quality (not necessarily trained)
  • have some sight-reading ability
  • are interested in performing a wide-ranging repertoire
  • get on well with other people
